Amano-Ya at Yamanaka-Ko #3 is a café that fits naturally into the tranquil lakeside rhythms of Yamanaka-ko, known for its panoramic views of Mt. Fuji. This spot tends to attract early risers and travelers who want to start their day with a quality coffee and a satisfying meal before heading out to explore the area. It’s one of the earliest-opening cafés near the lake, making it a convenient stop for breakfast or a mid-morning break.

The atmosphere balances a cozy indoor space with seating that allows diners to soak in the scenic outdoor views, including a direct sightline to Mt. Fuji — a main draw for many visitors. While the café maintains a calm and relaxed vibe, a few considerate staff and patrons make the experience more pleasant, though occasional guests’ behavior around the windows can affect how well everyone enjoys the view.

Locally sourced ingredients feature prominently on the menu, highlighting some distinctive regional flavors. The deer meat dishes stand out, especially the 鹿肉ロースト丼 (venison roast rice bowl) and 鹿肉のローストビーフ (roast venison), praised for their tender texture and complementary sauces. These are accompanied by simple yet hearty side dishes like miso soup and fresh salads, reflecting a straightforward, rustic approach to café dining. Egg dishes such as the 農家のたまごかけごはん定食 (farm-fresh egg over rice set) and the egg toast paired with drinks offer lighter options that feel rooted in local farm-to-table tradition.

Besides food, the café’s coffee receives particular appreciation. They serve their own original roast from Fuji Yoshida’s &U Coffee, providing a well-balanced cup whether hot or iced. For a sweeter treat, the クロッフル (a croissant-waffle hybrid) with fresh strawberry cream is a popular choice, appealing to those who want a café-style indulgence alongside their beverages.

Visitors tend to come here looking for a setting where they can sit and relax while watching Mt. Fuji, either indoors or outdoors. The early opening hours mean it’s great for a peaceful breakfast or a coffee stop before engaging in outdoor activities around Yamanakako. The self-service water setup adds to the casual and unpretentious vibe.

This café works well for solo travelers, couples, and small groups who value a combination of local flavors, a quiet seascape backdrop, and attentive but low-key service. Those less focused on breakfast rushes or peak times will find a rewarding experience mid-morning to early afternoon, especially with clear weather to make the most of the mountain views.

The taste of the food is very delicious, especially the taste of the meat and the sauce goes well together.

This cozy cafe excellent food and a beautiful view, creating a relaxing atmosphere. However, our enjoyment was marred by inconsiderate taiwanese people who closed the curtains, blocking the view for everyone else. While we wouldn't mind people obstructing the view, the thoughtless act of closing the curtains without considering others was unacceptable. I would still like this place for food.

A lovely cafe with extremely nice view of Fuji mountain. It was very comfortable to enjoy yummy food and drinks and wait for Fuji Mountain. English menu provided. Deer was surprisingly tasty which I strongly recommend. Waffles were nice as well. I will try egg dishes if i visit here next time.

They actually opened at 11:15, not the time listed on Google, so keep that in mind. I arrived first and didn’t have to wait, but a few people showed up shortly after. The owner was very friendly, and the QR-code ordering was super convenient. The view is spectacular, with a clear, direct look at Mt. Fuji from both the indoor and outdoor seating. The venison was really tender, and the sauce was better than I expected. The blue lemonade soda was just okay, but the food itself was excellent. Overall, a fantastic experience — highly recommend!

20230819 - it looks like deer meat meal is highly recommended because I saw that many customers ordered the roast deer rice. However, I went cycling here so better to have something light. That’s why I ordered the toast set. Everything included in this set tasted perfect. The coffee latte is also beyond expectation. This is fantastic breakfast. Something need to pay attention is the working hours. It opens from 7:00-9:30 and reopen from 11:00. Besides, Tuesday and Wednesday is off. In short, this is a wonderful restaurant in Yamanakako area. I’ll definitely visit again to try something new.
